North-east are the old merchant quarters of Beacon Hill, easily distinguishable by a gilded dome of the State residence of Massachusetts (1798, from the balcony of this building was read the Declaration of Independence), the colorful building of the Old South Meeting House, which served in 1774 the beginning of the famous "Boston tea Party", and rows of old brick buildings, which built up the area. Brick sidewalks and cobblestone streets of the old quarters in our days surrounded by major corporate offices and artists' studios.
